Playing around with my new 15mm Irix Firefly lens on my Canon 6D
AAAAAAaaaaaannnnd ..... It's playtime! Got myself an Irix 15mm firefly lens. Whoop whoop! And it's already seen some things :-o . A lot of things! The lens is amazing, and I have it permanently inside my bag now. I attach it to my 5D Mark ii as a backup if I already have another lens attached to my 6D. I love the low F-stop on it, as the 5D Mark ii doesn't have as good low light performance as the 6D, but the low F-Stop makes up for it! So I am at least using my old 5D a lot more now :-D
The only 2 drawbacks that I have found thus far is the manual focus and the high vignetting. It takes a bit of practice to get the focus right especially at close ranges. As soon as the subject is 3 meters or more away you can almost use infinity focus and just increase the aperture slightly, then all is in focus. But if the subject is close it gets a bit tricky, especially if you DONT want the subject in the center of the shot. Because rotating the camera changes the distance between the lens and the object quite a bit which makes the subject loose focus.
The high vignetting is only a problem if I use my 5D mark ii because of the bad iso noise. So fixing it in Photoshop gives a lot of noise in the corners if the light wasn't the best. But with the 6D the results was definitely usable.
I was sitting in the corner of the office. Was able to get both walls in the shot.
Literally trying to find anything that I can take a picture of! Took me a while to get this in focus. Because as soon as I rotate the camera to change the point of view, the front of the lens moves away from the subject, making it loose focus. So I had to strafe sideways instead of rotating in order to check focus in camera.
Playing around with some back light.
The sunset on the way home made the traffic worth while!
King of the couch!!
Hahaha. He was getting really annoyed after a while with this big camera in his face.
